Return To The Wild

Return to the Wild is a project rejecting the idea that school is only a place defined by four walls and a roof. Students at HTMNC will spend approximately six weeks researching, testing, and most importantly experiencing the affects nature and being outdoors has on the human body and mind. In Humanities we are reading Into The Wild and Last Child in the Woods while testing our mental health in and out of nature to see the effects it has on our happiness and overall mood when in different environments. In Math/Science students will  learn about the human body systems. They will do experiments to find out how going outside on our weekly nature field trips affect the body. Students will do experiments every week and record their data. Students will also sign a contract to give up a piece of modern technology that monopolizes their time in hopes of further immersing them back into the wild. We are documenting this entire process with GoPros and action cameras to organize and edit one big documentary detailing our journey.
